After thoroughly researching glazes, our client wanted to create large walls where these glazes could really stand out. We came up with the idea of using the traditional Italian Terracotta roof tile—integral to the Italian architectural landscape—and covering it with these special glazes. The domed shape of the roof tiles creates a sense of movement that is emphasized by the drippings of the glazes. Involving an elaborate engineering study, these walls are installed as window wings in selected stores in Japan, Australia, and the USA. The installations can be small walls of 150 tiles, up to entire storefronts composed of 1000 tiles, becoming true architectural elements.
